Cortona On The Move International Photography Festival is celebrating its first five years of activity. In this short space of time Cortona OTM has rapidly grown to become a significant event in the calendar of professional photographers, journalists, keen amateurs and enthusiasts around the world. This achievement is due to the high quality of research and content that goes into the festival, hand in hand with the architectural beauty and magic of the location where it takes place.
Nearly 24,000 visitors came to see the 2014 Edition.
The object of the festival is to celebrate a Journey: be it real or imaginary, shocking or revolutionary, a voyage of self-discovery or an exposé of the human condition. And the sheer beauty of Cortona’s historical buildings, with its ancient Tuscan landscape, is the backdrop for dozens of exhibitions displaying the work of important Italian and foreign photographers, as well as for workshops with contemporary professional photographers. Cortona OTM is also aimed at emerging talents who, through the medium of our Off Circuit, are offered the opportunity to show their work alongside their more famous colleagues, but also to receive helpful advice and criticism of their work in the Portfolio Readings. Each year a jury of distinguished experts elects the winner of Happiness On The Move, an international prize associated with the festival.
Cortona On The Move was founded in 2011, based on the ideas of the ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association. Starting with the second edition, artistic direction has been in the hands of Arianna Rinaldo. Nearly 24,000 visitors came to see the 2014 Edition , which hosted 15 exhibitions and the European Dream-Road to Brussels project, a travelling exhibition which covered 5,500 kilometers from Greece to Cortona, by way of Geneva and Brussels. Cortona On The Move could not exist without the help of its many volunteers and trainees. In the the last edition we had a group of thirty who came from all five continents of world.
